Shaq Lawson, a former Clemson football star and current NFL player, has made a significant contribution to the Call Me MiSTER® program. CURF has licensed this program to over 60 higher education institutions, which demonstrates its remarkable growth and influence. The program aims to increase the number of teachers from diverse backgrounds. Lawson's donation will specifically support the Summer Internship at Littlejohn Community Center, a long-standing partner of the Call Me MiSTER® program.
Winston Holton, the program manager and director of Summer Programs for Call Me MiSTER®, recalls meeting Lawson as a fifth grader during a community outreach initiative. Holton remembers Lawson's charismatic personality and competitive spirit, traits that have undoubtedly contributed to his success. The largest portion of Lawson's gift will fund the engagement of five MiSTERs with over 60 K-8th graders for a comprehensive summer experience. This initiative exemplifies the enduring impact of the program and CURF's commitment to fostering educational opportunities for all.
