NEXT Start Up Awards and Upstate Accelerator

Two Clemson start-ups, CarbonCents and MyUI, have been recognized as some of the region’s high-potential startups through their inclusion in the NEXT Upstate Accelerator Cohort 2! This intensive 8-week program helped the companies continue to grow and scale under the guidance of local former founders and business leaders. Culminating on November 16th, CarbonCents and MyUI.AI had the opportunity to publicly showcase their companies through a 4-minute pitch presentation.

Founded by Tim Howard and Snowil Lopes, CarbonCents is a technology-driven company that offers predictive energy management platforms for carbon reduction data. The company's system enables the measurement and analysis of a building's power, temperature, water usage, indoor air quality, and occupancy in a utility data system. Ultimately, through using this new technology, organizations can create a healthier working environment and achieve a more sustainable future.

Dr. Julian Brinkley’s MyUI.AI is a cloud-based system that leverages artificial intelligence to adapt the digital interfaces of consumer appliances, kiosks, and nearly any compatible IOT device to the specific interaction needs of people with disabilities. Through learning the interaction needs and preferences of users, the artificial intelligence ‘adapts’ inaccessible digital interfaces to specific user needs and preferences, including gestures, eye gaze, affect, and/or voice commands.

Congratulations CarbonCents and MyUI!
