Triple Ridge Waveguide Laser

Manufacturing

Clemson University researchers have developed a TRW laser structure that consists of a broad-ridge waveguide to provide dissipative modes that can couple with higher-order modes. This laser can effectively suppress all the undesired higher-order transverse modes under a threshold, ensuring single-mode operation with a larger emitting aperture and a higher output power than traditional RW lasers.

Computer-controlled embroidery design and stitching for Precision Control of Tensile Properties of woven textiles

Fiber and Films

Clemson University researchers have developed a computational fabrication system that allows for the customization of material properties of fabrics at a larger scale. By utilizing a novel path planning algorithm, the system creates a stitch design that, when added to the fabric, changes the stiffness of the material based on the design needs.
