Advancing technology (January 29, 2019)
Dear Clemson Colleagues,
The beginning of a new year always offers a great opportunity to start fresh and set new goals for the year ahead. As you embark on new and continued research endeavors in 2019, I wanted to remind you of the funding opportunity the Clemson University Research Foundation offers to faculty to support further development and commercialization of technologies generated from your research at Clemson University. The CURF Technology Maturation Fund is a unique program, that provides funding to support critical applied technology development activities needed to mature the technology for industry adoption and commercialization or pursuit of follow-on federal or industry sponsored research opportunities.
Through the Technology Maturation Fund, we provide targeted investments that aide Clemson researchers in maturing their respective technologies and attracting industry partners for further sponsored research support or commercial licensing. This past year, we awarded funding to seven faculty researchers from five different departments. The awards ranged between $5,000 and $60,000 depending upon the development steps required.
This spring, we will be accepting proposals for the fiscal year 2020 Technology Maturation Fund. If you are looking to advance your technology toward commercialization, I encourage you to submit a proposal. To learn more about the Technology Maturation Fund program and what is required, please see the Maturation Fund article in this newsletter and visit our website.
